Samsung Galaxy Camera Honored as First Digital Camera Awarded Platinum UL Environment Certification

Premium connected digital camera meets strict environmental standards and showcases Samsung’s continued sustainability leadership

Laboratories), for its Samsung Galaxy Camera™. The certification is based on UL 2810, sustainability requirements for digital cameras.

The Galaxy Camera is the first digital camera to receive such a certification and is considered the highest environmental ranking based on UL Environment’s certification requirements. To achieve certification, a mobile device must earn at least 60 of the available points (score of 55). Devices earning 80 points (score of 73) or more are eligible to receive platinum level certification.

The Galaxy Camera is recognized by UL Environment for its sustainable characteristics including:

• Reduction or elimination of substances of concern, such as PVC, bromine and chlorine

• Improved recyclability – the camera is 87 recyclable1

• Reduced packaging

• Packaging is 98 recyclable

• Energy efficient battery charger

Samsung actively seeks certification of its products to UL Environment to meet international sustainability standards. UL Environment sets minimum requirements for “environmentally preferred” mobile devices by measuring environmentally sensitive materials, energy management, manufacturing and operations, impact to health and environment, product performance, packaging, and product stewardship.
